Qualifications

  • AA Degree in Early Childhood Education
  • BS Degree in Early Childhood Education with PA Certification in PK-4 Instructional I Preferred (Require for PreK Counts classroom assignments)
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • High degree of professionalism
  • Bilingual Language abilities a plus, English/Spanish

Responsibilities/Duties

To plan and implement educational activities to includes managing the classroom and planning activities according to the curriculum that are developmentally appropriate. Evaluate and record children’s progress and communicate with parents on a regular basis. Provide and maintain an atmosphere in the classroom that promotes school readiness and developmentally appropriate practices.

Luzerne County Head Start requires staff possess current, valid Background Clearances (3) per state/federal regulations. Proof of Degree/Certification and Experience Required to meet the Qualifications for position.

Pay Rates, Effective 2023, based on education/credentials in Early Childhood Education:

  • AA Degree in ECE – $21.92/hr
  • BS Degree in ECE – $26.09/hr
  • BS in ECE + PA Cert/Instructional I Certification – $27.24/hr
  • BS in ECE + PA Cert/Instructional II Certification – $28.61/hr
    • Additional pay for Advanced Degree (MS/ECE) on all BS levels
    • Bilingual Abilities Preferred (Eng/Spanish) – 5% additional pay

August thru June, with an established summer break in employment between school years
