Qualifications

  • AA Degree in Early Childhood Education
  • BS Degree with PA Certification in PK-4 Instructional I Preferred

Responsibilities/Duties

To plan and implement educational activities to includes managing the classroom and planning activities according to the curriculum that are developmentally appropriate. Evaluate and record children’s progress and communicate with parents on a regular basis. Provide and maintain an atmosphere in the classroom that promotes school readiness and developmentally appropriate practices.

A $1,000 monetary incentive will be paid to newly employed Luzerne County Head Start staff members who start work after July 1, 2021: $500 payout will be paid upon successful completion of the first 90 days; $500 payout after 1 year of service

Terms of Employment

Requirements that must be satisfied prior to hire:
Proof of Degree/Certification and Experience Required to meet the Qualifications for position
Background Clearances:
(1) FBI Fingerprints; PA DHS Registration; Service Code 1KG756
(2) Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check
(3) Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance
Successful completion of Pre-Employment Physical Examination which includes a Tuberculosis screening

Locations, Hours and Salary
HIP CENTER – Hazleton Integration Project, 225 East Fourth Street, Hazleton
HAZELTON / CARSON ST CENTER, 663 Carson Street, Hazleton
PITTSTON NEW STREET CENTER, Pittston

  • Full Time, 37.5-40 hrs/wk (center/classroom dependent)
  • AA: $17.00/hr
  • BS: $21.04/hr to $23.18hr (higher salary with PK-4 Instr I, II Certification)
  • 5% Bilingual Adjustment to pay for fluency in dual language abilities, English/Spanish
