ASSOCIATE TEACHER - Luzerne County Head Start



  • AAS, Early Childhood Education, CDA credential; or HS Diploma with obtaining a CDA or AA degree within 2 years of hire or placement
  • Bilingual Language abilities, English/Spanish, a plus


Implement educational activities by providing and maintaining an atmosphere in the classroom that promotes school readiness and developmentally appropriate practices for 3 and 4-year old children. Assist the Head Start Teacher in planning and carrying out educational activities to meet the National Head Start Program Performance Standards and local plan.

Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check
Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance
Successful completion of Pre-Employment Physical Examination which includes a Tuberculosis screening (arrangements made upon conditional offer of employment)

BEEKMAN STREET – 23 Beekman Street, Wilkes-Barre
DALLAS – Dallas United Methodist Center, 4 Parsons Street, Dallas
HAZLETON – HIP Center, 225 E 4th St, Hazleton
*NOTE: Each of the above noted positions are Full Time, 10-mos at 37.5 hrs/wk, 7.5 hrs/day and are designated as “State-Funded” classrooms that require the minimum educational qualification of a CDA Credential

BEEKMAN STREET – 23 Beekman Street, Wilkes-Barre
1 Part Time position: 10-months – works a school schedule Aug-June, 30 hrs/wk (6 hrs/day), Federally- Funded Classroom
Only Federally funded classrooms allow a HS diploma as the minimum educational qualification with successful obtainment of a CDA credential or AA degree within 2 years

Salary/Hourly – Based on Education/Eligible for overtime pay:
* AA Degree – $12.28
* CDA – $11.63
* HS Diploma/GED – $11.08
Bilingual Adjustment in pay of 5% for English/Spanish language abilities
